Swell Autumn/Winter period?

Postby Risky » Sun Sep 23, 2012 8:54 pm

Hi Guys,

Im new to the forum, im moving to Brighton for about 6 months and looking to get an idea of what to expect surf wise?

My knowledge is the south coast is generally inconsistent, surely over the autumn/winter period there are some swells?

Are these wind genertaed only or does the area getr some ground swells?

I had a look at a few of the 'breaks' like the west pier, marina and shoreham down the road

Any tips, advice etc is very welcome!

Looking forward to getting involved and will be bringing the hood and gloves haha ;)

yo, no one replied !!

thats what you get for adding your self to the crowd !

I dont care anyway - just watch windguru for the wind - if you see lots of red that means theres generally going to be waves. Mainly wind swell, and quite tidal - Marina works over high tide, and shoreham area over mid to low.

If you are a rank beginner then maybe stick to the lower tide beaches - its a small take off zone at the marina and i think the guys there can get a bit pissed if you are flapping in their way. Although ive never had a problem there though, even being a booger.

And yes - now until march next year is the time to surf, but it gets poes cold !

Good luck...

along the same sort of lines, if you're the muppet in the harbour mouth who bailed his board and let it hit me in the head, at least look behind next time, or better still hold on to it...
and also sorry to the guy who I was constantly getting in the way of
*edit* realise that sounded like I was accusing the person who started the thread, not what I meant
