Brighton Nippers Surf Lifesaving Club
The Brighton Surf Life Saving Club needs your help. The club, specifically the 'Nippers' (age 7-13), are rapidly growing.
We currently use the Brighton Sailing Club facilities for our weekly sea training sessions - yes the kids go in the sea all year round! (http://www.brighton-nippers.org.uk)
But we are out growing this and need our own home on the beach urgently. As a charity finding the money to do this is a challenge and the right premises even harder.
The Council are strengthening many of the arches by the West Pier and rather than having them all leased commercially we would like one for our community and make it a Surf Life Saving Clubhouse. There are enough cafes, bars and shops already and in the current climate they it makes sense not for all of them to be on long-term commercial leases. The council just need a nudge to see past the pound signs and think about the beach community!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE support the club by completing the attached on-line consultation - it closes soon so be quick.
You don't need to be a Brighton resident to lodge your view.
The relevant part of the sea front is 'Peace Statue to Ellipse' and the specific area of regeneration is 'opportunity to reinstate existing arches to east and west of West Pier'
You just need to make the point that not all of these arches need to be for commercial use!
THANK YOU!!
